What is more interesting then a man sword fighting two combatants at the same time? How about painting a rhino at arms length, or a statement as bold as the Republic of Cuba importing their illegal cigars from this same man directly. These very commercials have spiked sales in the selling of Dos Equis beer. The Commercial focuses on a man who is incredibly interesting and drinks Dos Equis beer thus making the viewer want to also drink the beer.
Describe.
The commercial that was forced upon my eyes while watching my favorite online show played some nice acoustic guitar, featured a narrator from the PBS news show Timeline, and flashed video bits of astonished people, receiving awards, and doing amazing wonders.
The beer commercial is unique from other commercials because other commercials talk about their beer where this commercial only focuses on the man behind the beer.
The character in all of his glory is shown in different time periods of his life. The narrator makes unbelievable claims about his life such as, "mosquitoes refusing to bite him out of respect". The commercials have appeared on sports channels, game show channels, and other male orientated shows. The actor is not a well recognized man to me, he is built up over a stretch of time to make him seem credible. The commercial is part of a series of different adds, all interesting and making the whole story of this one man more entertaining.
I have seen many of these commercials and definitely picked up on famous-person testimonial, the funny thing is I believe he was made famous by the ads he is portrayed in.
I like the different tittles he is given in the film, and how the statements and claims appear to get more and more outrageous. I really see an association principle, at the end of the commercial he says that he doesn't always drink but when he does he chooses the beer the commercial is trying to sell.
To me this whole commercial is all new and surprising, I cant legally drink, but I still found myself wanting to be like this made up man.
Its a very interesting sales pitch because most of the commercial has nothing to do with beer, but rather just incredible things this man has done.
The add is directed towards men possibly in their early twenties all the way to when men cannot drink beer for health reasons. The commercial doesnt really show much when it comes to woman, except showing them as unaware and just in the picture. I feel that there should be another commercial featuring a woman in the equal if not same position. I don't find any offense to the commercial however I'm a male so I don't know how the female portion of viewers would feel towards an older man who does incredible things. I believe another commercial should be made to honor the female counterparts.
I find the commercial very effective, I feel there are no real weaknesses to the add but I do think that people that are against alcohol in general would not be very responsive to the commercial, also those who do not drink. The strengths of the commercial is that its very manly or what society feels is manly.
The commercial is very memorable because the ending is very catchy and can be used for a variety of things with the words, "I don't always _____ _______, but when I do I choose ________". These blanks can be filled with anything. I would buy the beer for a novelty item, however I cant drink beer yet so its off limits for a while.
As far as engaging in the commercial there is no real threat or side I can go on.
Here are some cool links I have found:
this is an official website for the commercial
Here is the commercial I viewed while watching my show on t.v.
I learned a lot about marketing and how it affects the youth and drinkers everywhere, I loved the commercial compared to the boring one on carpet and other none related information.
The commercial has a huge coolness factor! I'll ask the question, who doesn't want to be super interesting or known for cool things? Maybe if you drink the beer you'll be that cool. No the commercial lies, but its a nice dream.
What I really learned from this topic or issue is, if you want to sell beer or some other harder to sell product you make it look cool or awesome. I believe in the eyes of the younger population.

Family Guy and YOU
Have you ever watched something that made you hold your gut because it hurt from laughter, I sure have. This is a blog about a t.v. show called Family Guy a hilarious at sometimes crude sitcom show. The show takes place at 11:00 PM and goes for about 30 minutes. It is a sitcom that is animated about a falling apart family.
When watching the Family Guy show I saw an iphone commercial, a Direct T.V. commercial and a camera commercial for Nikon. The iphone commercial was mainly trying to get you to realize that everyone had or owned an iphone so you should get one to to be apart of society. I really enjoyed the Direct T.V. commercial. The commercial was very entertaining and featured Charlie Sheen as the guy you don't want to be, and by not switching to Direct T.V. you could be just like him.
DESCRIBE: 1.Date:11:00 - 11:30 2.The network I watched this sitcom on Cartoon Network. The genre would be categorized as a animated sitcom. 3.The main plot of the episode that I viewed was that the entire world was consumed in a nuclear apocalypse. The Griffin Family was spared and went on a journey to find a Twinkies factory and start a new city to live in. They end up starting a new community and then get kicked out as the city falls apart they walk off and realize that they have each other. Family Guy as a show is completely random and you can never know what is going to happen.
5. The commercials that came on during the break were an Apple I phone commercial, a Direct TV commercial, and a Nikon camera commercial.
ANALYZE: The attitude of the show is that the father figure of the show is a complete idiot, the wife is very smart, the son is like the father, the daughter is very ugly and treated badly, the dog and smaller boy are best friends.
The small boy does not talk at all. 2.The show is a lot like other animated shows like South Park giving a moral lesson at the end of the show. 3.The show is different from south park due to that fact that South Park is somewhat more questionable and full of bad language. I would venture to say that Family guy is a little bit cleaner then most t.v. shows we see today, but still questionable.
INTERPRET: 1. The stereotypes are that the family is slightly over weight, live in a small neighborhood, and work average day jobs. 2.The commercials are targeted towards teenagers, and college students. I think the commercials are targeted at twenty year old and also people in their thirties. 3. If I was a visitor from another country and watched this show I would get a bad picture of Americans because the show is very degrading towards us in order to be funny. The target audience of the show I would strongly push towards, highschoolers, college students, and immature adults. I feel that men and woman of a mature stature would not want to be associated with this show. There is a trend with a younger generation and with the older one. The other big deal with Family guy is that the show revolves around current issues, so to really enjoy it you would have to be also caught up with whats going on in today's society.
EVALUATE: Strengths: I think the show is entertaining and funny. It talks about current issues and gets people to feel more comfortable about issues that they may not feel like that about. Weaknesses: I feel the show has a lot of shock and is not a good example for younger audiences. I think it is morally wrong, however interesting and eventful. I like how funny and witty the show is, also that it keeps me up to speed when talking about things I miss in our current society. I don't like that I cant just talk, or watch the show with my parents or my more conservative friends. The slapstick humor is always things memorable and can be shared with friends.I do not follow the show on twitter, or Facebook, because I don't feel that it is important to do so.
Conclusion: I didn't learn much from the show, but I did learn more about blogs from this assignment. I need much more practice with Blogger. I love it so far and cant wait to update and make more blogs. The main thing to keep in mind when watching Family Guy is that its all fake, however the steriotypes can be harmful. I found a small chunk of information on USATODAY a new informational piece about how Family Guy got canceled because it went over the boundaries. I think that if you are a parent you should def make sure your children know what they are watching and intervene.
Engage: I personally really find Family Guy very entertaining, so I think I will buy the seasons. They really are good on some level, and very funny.
